“I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.” — 1 Corinthians 1:10
In that spirit of unity in Christ, The Sanctuary at Woodville in partnership with Pastor David Melvin is overjoyed to announce our first “Unity Service” on Sunday, January 26th at 7 p.m. ET at 249 Wood Street, Hopkinton, MA 01748.
Our service will feature worship, prayer and a sermon by Scott Brill, Assistant Regional Director for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in New England, and is inspired by the worldwide “Week of Prayer for Christian Unity” from Saturday, Jan. 18 through Saturday, Jan. 25.
“We want to be a local expression of this larger expression of Christianity,” said Melvin. “The focal point for the unity is how we confess our belief in the resurrection, but it’s also in conjunction with the fact that this is the 1,700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed. And so, as part of the service we’re going to be confessing our faith together and reciting the Nicene Creed!"
This event will feature leaders and representatives from a majority of the Christian churches and ministries in Hopkinton: The Sanctuary at Woodville, Faith Community Church of Hopkinton, St. Paul’s and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Churches, the Vineyard Church Hopkinton and the former Community Covenent Church.
Offerings will be taken and will go to support Kingdom work in unity of the Hopkinton churches. Please make checks payable to “Sanctuary at Woodville” with memo line “Unity.” Light refreshments will be served after the service. Overflow parking at Woodville Rod & Gun Club across the street.
